"This is not the end...but it may be the beginning of the end." Seems an appropriate starting point as the Allied Italian Legion comprises the final part of this project, though of course being a wargamer that can hardly be taken to mean that it is finished, oh no! This element of the Legion will represent the Hastatii, the Velites already having been completed way back when I started on the project.
The figures are from Aventine Miniatures of course, with shield transfers from LBM and bases from Warbases as ever. Here's an idea of how they will look on the tabletop battlefield here in GHQ.
With these completed it leaves 52 figures to complete the project for now. I can't tell you how sick I am of bronze right now and how much I am looking forward to working on some C19th figures next year (DV) In the meantime, stay safe and take care of yourselves, your family and your friends. We don't want to loose anyone now do we?
Et apparati magnifice sunt et faciunt !

DeleteLovely looking Italian allies!
ReplyDeleteBest Iain
Many thanks Iain.
DeleteThey look lovely David. When all assembled I'm sure both sides will make for a spectacular display on the gaming table.
ReplyDeleteThank you SteveJ, much appreciated.
DeleteYes, lovely and the basing looks to be working well.
ReplyDeleteI'm pleased, so I'm glad to have your support on the basing.
DeleteDavid Im very impressed with how neat you have made the shields, far far better than mine. I never thought of using the same colour on all the shield, what a great idea. Well done.
ReplyDeleteThank you Robbie. The LBM shield transfers are very fiddly I find, but I've developed a method of coping. Matching the colours for touching up is the most difficult I've found.
DeleteExcellent painting and figures David.
ReplyDeleteMany thanks George.
DeleteVery, very nice looking Italians!
ReplyDeleteVery kind DeabM, thanks.
DeleteLooking good David and you have the army to a great place in short space of time. Just need that battle now ! What happens to a completely newly painted army !!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the regular encouragement Matt, it's appreciated. As both armies are completely new I'd expect Armageddon!
DeleteImpressive Mr.B.
ReplyDeleteThanks Jon! Glad you're not so busy you can't drop by the blog.
DeleteDay off ;-D
DeleteThey are spoiling you! Is it your Christmas treat?
DeleteThose Italian allies look superb and are a great advert for Aventine and LBMS - you should be on comission!
ReplyDeleteThank you for those expansive sentiments. It just shows how the LBM shield transfers hide a multitude of sins...
DeleteVery nice! Good luck with the rest of the project!
ReplyDeleteThanks Bartek, much appreciated.
DeleteHandsome additions... in the home stretch now!
ReplyDeleteThank you Gonsalvo, I'm still hopeful of completing the Allied Italian Legion this year, but it will be close.
