Roosian Cavalry in the Crimea

As my loyal reader may recall, I spent what hobby time I had available over the Christmas - New Year period on rebasing the cavalry from the Prodigal Foundry Collection. I've already posted on the British cavalry, both Heavy and Light Brigades, so it's time for the Roosians to make their bow.

In total there are four regiments, each of four bases of three figures. As far as us possible I've organised the figure layout to facilitate units of six figures utilising officers and NCO types as command on two bases. The regiments consist of Dragoons, Uhlans, Hussars and Cossacks ~

There remains  one unit of Dragoons by Great War Miniatures in the Lead Pimple, gifted me by chum Colin Ashton (at Carryings on up the Dale blog). I'd like to add more Cossacks in due course, possibly the Foundry ones with lances as I fear the GWM's ones will dwarf the Foundry figures, but we will have to see. In the meantime a photo which I hope captures the look of the Roosian cavalry on the tabletop battlefield ~

And finally, a bit of a fripary in the form of additional details added to a Foundry Dragoon casualty just for interest ~

Now though it's back to painting Great War Miniatures Roosian Jaegers. No rest for the wicked, though in my case the slightly naughty will have to do...

  4. Slightly naughty indeed……lovely stuff David, I do like the 3 figures per base which I might use for some Napoleonics and sensible to spread the command figures in my view allowing smaller 6 man units 👍

It’s also nice to get an idea of how the new building looks beside the figures.

    All the best. Aly

    1. Thanks Aly. I think the building size is ok. In the range are bigger and smaller choices though...
