Given the size of bases I have chosen for the British element of this project and the posing of the figures in question I have reduced each base to seven figures, including one casualty figure on the ground, giving 21 figures to be painted rather than the more usual 24. However, it seems to take me anywhere up to twice as long to complete each figure and so it's a slower process in real time. Anyway, here is the first completed base, hopefully it will meet with your approval ~
The kilt, bonnet and hose patterns are beyond the limits of my hand and eye really, so they are suggested rather than depicted. Thankfully on the kilts at least the large period sporans reduce the visible pattern to a minimum! The second base is well underway with four of the seven figures completed and varnished, so I still hope to complete the regiment before the Christmas holiday period kicks in!
A splendidly painted bunch of the wee laddies there, ready to strike fear into the hearts of yon Russians.
ReplyDeleteThe Devils in Skirtskis eh?
DeleteThey have come out really well David…
ReplyDeleteI actually think the Government Tartan is the least fussy thing on this uniform…
All the best. Aly
Thank you Aly, much appreciated. Mind, you may enjoy a genetic advantage when it comes to kilts?
DeleteThey look great and are all ready for Hogmanay.
ReplyDeleteStephen
Their Lumbs are undoubtedly Reeking in anticipation!
DeleteNicely done David, for tartan definitely use the 3 foot rule. If you were a Frenchman and you could see the tartan pattern you were already far too close !
ReplyDeleteWhat about Roosians though?
DeleteVery nicely done there David!
ReplyDeleteMuch appreciated SteveJ.
DeleteLovely work David!
ReplyDeleteChristopher
Very kind Christopher, thank you.
DeleteVery nice, and I agree with Aly, no fancy tartans back then. My sons looked a bit like that at Queen Victoria’s School in Dunblane, real smart.
ReplyDeleteNice to have your endorsement of my meagre efforts! Thanks, it's much appreciated George.
DeleteA fine body of men. The kilts, hose and bonnets all look fine to me.
ReplyDeleteThanks Any, much appreciated.
DeleteAn excellent start there Dave, and a fine body of Jocks... the extra time and effort well worth it in my veiw. They look splended!
ReplyDeleteI am getting there...slowly.
