The total figures completed so far for the project ~
My overall impression of Aventine Miniatures so far is favourable. Communication from Keith is first class, keeping you up to date with the progress of your order through from receipt to posting. The figures themselves need little cleaning up, bar some trimming of the undersides of some bases. There is sufficient variety in pose and arms/equipment to make a varied look if that is desired. The figures seem to love the paint and the end product even of my limited painting is more than pleasing to me. Now, I need to think about raising the start of my Carthaginian army...
A top class start Mr. B it is going to be a fine army. I shall look forward to the first victory.

DeleteRapid progress David......a small force already done. The shields in this period really set them off. Your problem is if you finish every that quick you’ll have to start that other period !

DeleteCan never have enough Romans, I found those shield transfers a bind as well but well worth the effort.

I have a new blade and cutting the central piece out is much easier. Mind you, "designed to fit..." rather stretches the meaning of the words I've found.

The transfers can be a bit of a pain but they really add something to the finished figures.

I'm quietly pleased at the rate I can finish figures, at least so far. I'm better at the transfers now too.
DeleteTheyre coming on David. I darent suggest using the Victrix range for the period but given how you have struggled with the transfers, gluing up plastic is possibly a step too far. By the way I struggle a lot with the transfers, especially the Warlord ranges, they are even worse to cut out. So well done.
ReplyDeleteThanks Robbie, all things considered I think the project has enjoyed a fair start. Plastic just doesn't float my boat, as you know, but there are several established ranges I hope to call on once the Aventine Miniatures core is in place for both armies
