As I mentioned in previous posts starting off this new venture with the Danish Livgarde til Fods was a no brainer when both Matt and Phil had urged me to prioritise them. Nostalgia is afterall a powerful driver in both our hobby and in our life as we grow older. So, here is my interpretation of the regiment in English service using the venerable Wargames Foundry figures. The flags are from David's wonderful blog, Not By Appointment, and the bases are from Warbases, as ever ~
Next under the Brush of Doom will be one mounted and two foot figures to populate the Command stand for the Danish infantry brigade. Circumstances have pointed me towards this smaller component of the WSS venture next as our friends from Adelaide are due to arrive on Friday for a week's visit. After this pleasant interruption I hope to start on the second Danish infantry regiment, Prince Carl's. The flags are already printed out, from David's aforementioned site, and so for a change I shall start with the Command figures for them!

A splendidly turned out rendition of the old Custard Men, even better to have viewed them in the metal yesterday.
ReplyDeleteThank you Phil! Birds' finest live again!
DeleteCustard Powder! Those have really come out rather well Mr.B.
ReplyDeleteThank you Jon. Much appreciated! On to The next one now...
DeleteNicely done David and a good start to the new/nostalgic project.
ReplyDeleteMany thanks Matt! Pure nostalgia I think!
DeleteA lovely bunch of men David. I get more nostalgic by the week.
ReplyDeleteThank you George! Nostalgia a constant accompaniment to aging I'd guess?
DeleteNicely done, I fancy that with one thing and another, nostalgia is becoming a force of its own for many of us. Cracking flags of course.
ReplyDeleteYou are right Norm, on all counts.
DeleteA fine body of men there David:)! Let's hope the 'Custard' boys perform well when they make their debut on the table. Nostalgia is certainly more to fore for me for sure these days, maybe a hankering of those simpler days of our youth?
ReplyDeleteThank you SteveJ, appreciated as ever! I think myself its more the youth we hanker after rather than the simple...
DeleteFantastic work David….
ReplyDeleteA beautiful looking unit… even with the ‘ button ‘ issue these classic figures have stood the test of time… and you have certainly put fresh life into them…
Definitely one of my favourite units.
All the best. Aly
From you that is a much appreciated comment for my mediocre brush work, thank you. You are right about the figures standing up well after so long, but the missing buttons still grate with me.
DeleteA fine body of men, David. They're a very distinctive unit with their straw coat colour.
ReplyDeleteThank you Ray! The coats certainly will stand out amongst Danish grey.
DeleteMy goodness, they look superb, especially your arrangement on the command stand.
ReplyDeleteBest wishes, James
Thank you James, your comment is much appreciated.
DeleteVery nice.
ReplyDeleteThank you Colin! Welcome back, hope you are feeling better.
DeleteSplendid unit! And great to see my flags in action too. Thanks also for the kind words about my blog... :-)
ReplyDeleteThank you David! Your blog deserves high praise for the service it renders.
DeleteMany thanks! More flags to come... :-)
DeleteLooking forward to those then David.
DeleteCustard is always a treat... and this fine unit is absolutely no exception! What a wonderful start to what promises to be yet another wonderful venture! Fine work indeed Dave, and the brushwork is certainly well above mediocre.
ReplyDeleteThank you Paul, your positive encouragement is always welcome!
