I mentioned previously that I had sorted through the metal figures in Aly's surprise gift parcels and made up a command stand for the Scots mercenaries serving in my Lancastrian army. I'd originally 'named' him Black George in honour of a good friend having a difficult end of year. I was persuaded by the same towards 'Black Geordie' as more appropriately Scots. I was also provided with a version of the family Heraldic Banner to add to the look of the vignette! See what you make of him ~
As the festivities edge ever closer I'm still managing to wield the Brush of Doom intermittently, though I've finally had to deploy a new incarnation! I buy my brushes from ABC Brushes, usually at Partizan. The Series 40 Sable Rounds have proved their value. One brush has painted all of the Wars of the Roses collection with no special care beyond a wash in clean water at the end of each session! Does the job for me at 3 for £7 the last time, if I recall correctly that is! Meanwhile, Merry Christmas one and all! Back after the festivities I hope...
Not forgetting my favourite genre at Christmas, a momento gracing our tree...

A splendidly imagined piece to grace the collection I am sure George will approve. Merry Christmas, onwards to the New Year!
ReplyDeleteOnwards! Ever Onwards!
DeleteA lovely, colourful and inspiring piece! Full of character. 3 brushes for £7.00..... that's my kind of price! 3 more collections we can look forward to then! 🤣🤣
ReplyDeleteNot so sure about three...
DeleteSorry, my mistake... only two collections! You've just used one of em'!
ReplyDelete...or even two!
DeleteA very nice command stand, David!
ReplyDeleteThank you Ray!
DeleteWell 'Black Geordie' and chums look superb as always David:)! The composition works at treat, with the hornblower and standard bearer adding a nice dynamic to the whole. A pretty cool Xmas tree decoration too!
ReplyDeleteMany thanks SteveJ! We've tried to collect Christmas decorations like that on our travels over the years, some more tasteful than others I have to confess!
DeleteNice work David …. Black George worked for me. I’ve never managed to find such a decoration but now I will keep a look out 👍
ReplyDeleteThanks Matt! On naming I was guarded by George! There was a Christmas Shop in Gettysburg the last time we were there. This decoration was just too twee to miss!
DeleteThe ‘Powder Blue’ type shade really lifts the piece. Best Wishes for Christmas. My brushes will get an outing today as I try to re-kindle the discipline!
ReplyDeleteHappy Christmas Norm. Looking forward to reading your Christmas Day message tomorrow morning.
