Praise Where Praise Is Due

At just before 10.00 on Wednesday evening I placed an order with Fighting 15s for some Eureka Miniatures Austrian 3lb guns, gun crew, landhanger and an Artillery officer. I received an automatic response almost instantaneously, as you do, and settled back to see what unfolded. Would they be in stock? How long would I need to wait? You know how it goes. They arrived in today's post before 11.00a.m. That's a big thumbs up for Fighting 15s and for Royal Mail! Here are the figures ~

These are just as they came out of the packet. There is no flash, nor vent runs, that I can see. I was so impressed by the service, the quality of casting and the figures themselves, including the many extras to enhance the base, that I thought I'd post them for others to see. I plan to use them as Battalion Guns for my Hungarian line battalions.
Down side? They cost me £40.00 including postage and tax. A bit pricey for some perhaps, but worth it I thought. Eureka Miniatures and Fighting 15s, recommended! I thought I'd make this post to balance earlier moans about the general quality of casting in our hobby when I bought from another two companies last year. Fair's fair, after all, it's not all doom and gloom.

    1. P&P at £4.50 cuts cost to £35.50 for two cannon, 8 figures and heaps of extras to enliven base. That's £17.75 for each base worth of figures, etc. I think that's pretty comparable with most 28mm stuff myself.

  2. I love Eureka for my 7YW and French Rev projects and have spent rather a lot on their figures over the years but they are so good and (in moderation) worth every penny. I shall be sending an order in to collect at Salute in April as there are some as yet unlisted Grenz and jäger available for the FRW.

    1. Like you, Colin, I buy sparingly from Eureka/Fighting 15s. When I wanted French limber sets and caissons they were cheaper than British companies. It pays to shop around I've found.

  3. I am with you on that one Colin, although I did have the privelege of being Nic's sole customer in India. The trick was to prize them out of the hands of the Deputy Commisssioner for Customs at the Foreign Post Office in Delhi. He was determined to proove that as I was buying fogure by the regiment I must be commercial and not a personal customer. I took some photos of games down and he grasped the nature of the hobby. Our mutual enthusiasm for old Royal Enfield 350s closed the deal and I would be greeted with 'Ah, so more big boys toys to collect?" followed by a show and tell. Don't think I made a convert though. 1. Graham, that's really interesting. We don't realise how lucky we are with post in U.K. usually.

  4. Lovely looking, if pricy figures and first class service all round.

    1. I'm chuffed with both service and figures, Iain, so I'll stand the costs.

  5. Those look rather nice indeed, for the price of two resin tanks, or less even.
